AVENIDA DE EL PALMAR | EL PALMAR, MURCIA, SPAIN | PROMOTER: COUNCIL OF MURCIA | INTERNACIONAL COMPETITION 2nd PRIZE | MARTINO PEÑA, ROBERTO MARÍN, JONATAN MARTINEZ | 2012 | 200.000m²
The old Avenue between Murcia and El Palmar has to be renewed. The lineal, historical street needs a new concept which is capable of regenerating it. The following problems must be solved; a-the car primary role compared to the pedestrian role, b-The division of the landscape called “Huerta de Murcia” through the Avenue. In order to solve these problems several strategies will be suggested: 1-“Zig-Zag” system: The car lanes are separated and between them appear a new space for pedestrians. 2-“Transfer Areas”; to connect both sides of the landscape 3-“Loopblock”: the plots are in the place which is defined through the ww“Zig-Zag” system.
